>Everything has to start someplace, so let’s start this Comm361/Online Journalism class blog with a touch of the MacWorld conference this past week in San Francisco.
Here’s a video report by Wall Street Journal technology columnist Walter S. Mossberg (WHAT! You don’t read Mossberg?!), who discusses his early impressions (full review to follow) of the ultra-thin MacBook Air. Stacey Delo reports.

>I am in love with my Mac Book Pro. When the Mac Book Air came out I was some what jealous that I didn’t wait to obtain this one, but it was more for the hype aspect of it. After seeing this video, I realize that at my age and being a junior in college, this may not be the most realistic notebook for campus. The dorm room wireless connection is not very reliable as the connection is usually low. I rely a lot on my ethernet connection as a backup when the wireless fails. I think that it is a great concept though for when I get out of college. I plan on being a “road warrior” journalist. I want to go places and write my stories on things that are not necessarily local. With hopes of getting into the fashion industry, I know that there is a lot of traveling to different countries for fashion shows and the Mac Book Air would be an ideal fit. It is light, compact and tiny. In my opinion, many people who are going out on assignments are pulling out laptops instead of lined paper and a pen. I also love the touch pad functionality that mimics the iPhone. All in all, I hope to get one as a gift to myself when I obtain my first position as a journalist!
